The Cardinals completed a three-game sweep of the Cubs with a 4-1 win in St. Louis. Carlos Martinez fanned six over six innings of one-run ball to improve to 9-and-3. Trevor Rosenthal nailed down his 23rd save. Jason Heyward, Yadier Molina and Matt Carpenter doubled in a run apiece for St. Louis, which has won six in-a-row. Anthony Rizzo's sac-fly in the third plated the only run of the night for Chicago, which has dropped five straight. Jason Hammel struck out seven, but allowed all four runs in four-plus frames to fall to 5-and-3. Play was halted for nearly two hours due to rain.
The Cubs have the day off. They begin a series in New York against the Mets on Tuesday.
