Carlos Sanchez lined a three-run triple in the top of the 10th inning and the White Sox held on for an 8-7 win over the Tigers at Comerica Park. Adam Eaton homered and Adam LaRoche had a two-run double for Chicago, which took the opener of the four-game series. Zach Duke got the win in relief. David Robertson gave up a two-run single to Bryan Holaday in the bottom of the 10th before closing it out for his 15th save. Joba [[ JAH-buh ]] Chamberlain was saddled with the loss for Detroit, which fell to just a game over .500 at 37-and-36. Ian Kinsler and J.D. Martinez homered for the Tigers.

Carlos Frias fired five shutout innings to outduel Jon Lester as the Dodgers blanked the Cubs 4-0 at Wrigley Field. Frias scattered seven hits and three walks to even his record at 5-and-5 with the win. Howie Kendrick had a two-run double in the first, and Los Angeles added two more in the second on an RBI triple by Enrique Hernandez and a run-scoring single by Jimmy Rollins. LA salvaged a split of the four-game series after dropping the first two. Lester allowed four hits, four walks and four runs in four innings to fall to 4-and-6 with the loss. Anthony Rizzo went 3-for-4 with two doubles for Chicago.
The Cubs will be in St. Louis tonight to begin a 3-game series.
