Phil Hughes threw eight innings of one-run ball in Minnesota's 7-2 win over the Cubs at Target Field. Hughes gave up only two hits as he improved to 5-and-6. Trevor Plouffe had two doubles and four RBI for the Twins in the series-opening victory. The Twins have won three straight. Anthony Rizzo had two solo shots for the Cubs, providing all of the offense. Kyle Hendricks gave up 11 hits and six earned runs over five frames to take the loss. The Cubs have lost three of four.
