More fans will be able to celebrate the Blackhawks as they are paraded on double-decker buses through the city this morning. The city announced an expanded parade route in an effort to accommodate the fans that were not able to get tickets to the rally at Soldier Field. The parade kicks off at 10:00 a.m. and will begin at Washington and Racine Streets. The buses will proceed east on Washington before heading south on DesPlaines and then east on Monroe, before concluding at Michigan Avenue.
Fans planning to attend the Blackhawks parade and rally this morning are being asked to use public transportation. CTA and Metra will be providing additional service to accommodate the large crowd of people. Soldier Field gates will be open to those with tickets starting at 8:00 a.m. Screens will be placed outside of the stadium in the south parking lot so those who couldn't secure tickets can watch the rally. Tickets went on sale yesterday at noon and were sold out within minutes.
The Blackhawks won their 3rd Stanley Cup Championship in the past 6 seasons Monday night at the United Center.
