Three-run homers by Miguel Montero and Chris Coghlan led the Cubs past the Tigers, 12-3, at Comerica Park. The Cubs scored four runs in the third inning and six runs in the seventh as they pounded the Tiger pitching staff. Anthony Rizzo added a two-run single for Chicago. Jake Arrieta struck out eight over six innings to earn the win. The Cubs have won three of their past four games. Five of six Tiger pitchers gave up at least one run. Shane Greene got chased after three frames, giving up seven hits and five runs to take the loss. Yoenis Cespedes provided the offense for Detroit with a three-run dinger. Detroit's three-game win streak was snapped.
The Cubs open up a series at home tonight with Cincinnatti.
