White Sox and Cubs both lose on Sunday

Brian Dozier opened and closed the scoring with home runs in the Twins' 8-1 win over the White Sox in Chicago. Dozier hit a solo shot in the first inning, and finished the scoring with a three-run shot in the seventh. Kyle Gibson did his part with eight innings of one-run ball to get the win. Eddie Rosario smacked a two-run double as the Twins took the rubber match of the three-game set. Jose Quintana gave up six earned in six frames to get the loss for the Southsiders. Jose Abreu went long for Chicago's only run. The Sox have dropped five of their past six.

The White Sox bwgin a road trip tonight in Toronto. The Pre-Game Show starts at 5:30 on Newstalk 1060.

 

Paul Goldschmidt's two-run homer keyed the Diamondbacks 4-3 win over the Cubs at Chase Field.  The homer was Goldschmidt's 12th of the season, and he also plated a run in the first to finish with three RBI.  Jeremy Hellickson gave up three runs over six-and-two-thirds to help the Snakes win the rubber match.  Hellickson helped his own cause with a sac-fly RBI in the third inning.  Arizona has won six of its past seven games.  Miguel Montero and Chris Coghlan each homered to drive the Cub offense.  Jason Hammel took the loss for Chicago, which has dropped four of their past seven games after winning six straight. 

The Cubs begin a series at home this afternoon against Washington.
