Chicago Baseball

Trevor Bauer held the White Sox lineup in check as the Indians won 3-1 from U.S. Cellular Field. Bauer gave up four hits and one run over seven-and-a-third innings to earn the win. Brandon Moss homered, while Michael Brantley and Jose Ramirez also drove in a run each for Cleveland, which snapped a two-game skid. Avisail Garcia plated the White Sox' only run on a single in the fourth frame. Jose Quintana took the loss as the Southsiders' six game win streak was snapped.

Game #3 in the series is tonight. The Pre-Game Show begins at 6:35 on Newstalk 1060.

Derek Norris drilled a two-run double in the bottom of the eighth and the Padres held on for a 4-3 win over the Cubs in San Diego.  Will Venable and Yangervis Solarte plated a run a piece to help the Padres snap a three-game losing streak.  James Shields struck out 11 in a no-decision.  Joaquin Benoit earned his fourth win.  Craig Kimbrel allowed a Chris Coghlan homer in the ninth, but held on for his 11th save.  Coghlan homered twice and Dexter Fowler also went deep for Chicago in the opener of the three-game set.  James Russell took the loss.
