With the game tied at two in the seventh inning, Melky Cabrera plated the go-ahead run on a single. Jose Abreu's RBI double scored Cabrera to put the Southsiders up for good. John Danks got the win with seven innings of two-run ball, and David Robertson got the save. Billy Butler hit a two-run homer for the A's, who are just 5-and-13 in Oakland. Fernando Rodriguez took the loss in relief.

Travis Wood tossed a perfect ninth for his first save. Starlin Castro plated a pair of runs for Chicago, which has won the first two in the three-game set and six straight overall. Sean Rodriguez slugged a solo homer for the Bucs. Gerrit Cole fanned eight, but allowed two runs in six innings to fall to 5-and-2.
