Avisail Garcia and Adam LaRoche hit back-to-back solo homers during a three-run first inning as the White Sox went on to beat the Brewers 4-2 in the rubber match of a three-game series at Miller Park. Melky Cabrera and Emilio Bonifacio also plated a run each for Chicago, which won its third straight series. Jose Quintana struck out 10 over seven-plus innings of one-run ball as he moved to 2-and-3. David Robertson closed it out for his seventh save. Gerardo Parra plated a run in the eighth and Carlos Gomez homered in the ninth for the Crew, who went 5-and-5 on their 10-game homestand. Jimmy Nelson allowed all four runs in six-and-two-thirds frames to slip to 1-and-4 with the loss.

Jeurys Familia walked Chris Coghlan with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Cubs beat the Mets 2-1 at Wrigley Field. Dexter Fowler singled in the tying run in the bottom of the eighth for the Cubs, who will go for the four-game sweep on Thursday. Hector Rondon was credited with the win after tossing a scoreless ninth. Michael Cuddyer drove in the lone run on a groundout in the sixth for New York, which slipped to 2-and-4 on its seven-game road trip. Carlos Torres was tagged with the loss.
