Cueto pitched eight-and-one-third innings and whiffed seven. Marlon Byrd bashed a three-run homer to pace the Reds, and Scott Carroll took the loss in relief for the White Sox. Carlos Rodon earned his first major league victory in Game Two, an 8-2 win for Chicago. Gordon Beckham was 2-for-3 with three RBI, and Alexei Ramirez went long for the White Sox. Jason Marquis took the loss for the Reds.

The Brewers were powered by a trio of big home runs in a 12-4 win over the Cubs from Miller Park. Jean Segura hit a solo shot, Gerardo Parra hit a two-run shot and Jason Rogers hit a three-run pinch-hit dinger to lead the Crew. It was Rogers' first career home run. Khris Davis added a two-run double. Kyle Lohse struck out seven batters in five frames to get the win. Kris Bryant bashed his first career homer, a three-run shot for Chicago. Travis Wood took the loss for the Cubs, who have lost six of their past eight games.
Catcher David Ross pitched a scoreless 8th inning for the Cubs.
