The RTHS bass fishing team qualified for the State Final Tournament this month by finishing in 3rd place today at the Shabbona Lake Sectional.
Rochelle weighed in at 12 pounds, 7 ounces. DeKalb High School came in 1st place in the Sectional with 16 pounds, 14 ounces. Aurora Marmion High School finished in 2nd place.
Rochelle's 3 fishermen were Preston Turner, David Eychaner, and Ethan Brockwell. Turner led RTHS with a fish that weighed in at 2 pounds, 6 ounces.
The driver of the boat was Coach Curt Sambo.
A total of 47 fish were caught and weighed at the sectional under great weather conditions.
RTHS will take part in the State Final Bass Tournament on May 15th and 16th at Carlyle Lake.
This is Rochelle's 4th boat to qualify for the State Finals. The last one to qualify in 2011.
