Bryant plays 1st game for the Cubs, White Sox lose in Detroit

Wil Myers slugged a three-run homer in the seventh inning to power the Padres to a 5-4 win over the Cubs at Wrigley Field. Will Middlebrooks hit a two-run shot in the fourth to tie the game at two for San Diego. James Shields struck out nine over six innings of four-run ball to improve to 2-and-0 with the win. Craig Kimbrel got the final three outs for his fourth save. Jorge Soler  singled in a run and Anthony Rizzo had an RBI double for Chicago. Rookie phenom Kris Bryant went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in his big league debut for the Cubs. Brian Schlitter was tagged with the loss.

Jose Iglesias singled in the winning run in the ninth inning to give the Tigers to a 2-1 win over the White Sox in Detroit.  Nick Castellanos set up the winning score when Alexei Ramirez missed the tag at second base as he slid in with a double.  Yoenis Cespedes homered in the fourth to tie the game at one for Detroit, which improved to 9-and-1 on the season.  Joakim Soria  got the win after David Price pitched eight innings of one-run ball.  Avisail  Garcia homered in the second for Chicago.  Zach Duke took the loss.
