Arismendy Alcantara's RBI single in the bottom of the 10th gave the Cubs a wild 7-6 win over the Reds in the opener of a three-game series at Wrigley Field. Jorge Soler hit a pair of two-run homers, the second of which tied the game in the eighth. Jon Lester was shelled for six runs and 10 hits in six innings. Hector Rondon was credited with his first win. Marlon Byrd and Jay Bruce plated two runs apiece for the Reds, who have dropped three straight since a 4-and-0 start. Manny Parra took the loss.
The White Sox open a two-game series with the Indians tonight in Cleveland. Jose Quintana will get the start on the mound for the 2-and-4 White Sox. The Tribe will counter with Carlos Carrasco. First-pitch is at 6:10.
