Despite leading the majors in home runs this spring, Cubs third base prospect Kris Bryant will start the season in the minors. Chicago has reassigned Bryant and infielder Javier Baez to Triple-A Iowa. If Bryant remains in the minors for 12 or more days, the Cubs will gain an extra year of control before he qualifies for free agency.
The Cubs scored three times in the sixth inning en route to an 8-5 win over the Giants. Starlin Castro and Jorge Soler plated runs, while starter Kyle Hendricks allowed five runs and seven hits in five-and-a-third innings. The Cubs will clash with the Rangers this afternoon.
The White Sox suffered a 4-1 loss to the Indians in Cactus League play yesterday. Tyler Flowers hit a solo homer, while Hector Noesi allowed two homers in five-and-a-third innings of work. The White Sox take on the Dodgers this afternoon.
Bulls guard Derrick Rose participated in full-contact practice on Monday. It marked the first time Rose took contact since having surgery on his right knee on February 27th. It isn't clear if Rose will be able to return before the end of the regular season.
The Bulls will be in Milwaukee to battle the Bucks tomorrow night. With eight games left to play, the Bulls are a game-and-a-half behind Cleveland for second place in the East.
