The Capitals scored three times in the second period to sink the Blackhawks 3-2 at the United Center. Joel Ward hit the eventual game-winner with five seconds left in the period. Braden Holtby stopped 38 shots for Washington, which snapped a five-game slide. Brandon Saad and Duncan Keith scored for Chicago, which has lost three of four. Corey Crawford saved 21 shots in the loss.
The Blackhawks will be at home Sunday night against San Jose.
