Patrick Kane scored in the shootout to lift the Blackhawks to a 3-2 win over the Stars in Dallas to open the season. Patrick Sharp tied the game at two midway through the third period on a power play. Duncan Keith also scored for Chicago. Corey Crawford gave up two goals on 34 shots for the victors. Trevor Daley and Cody Eakin scored in the second period for Dallas. Kari Lehtonen allowed two goals on 26 shots in the setback.
The Blackhawks will be at home saturday against Buffalo.
