Chicago Baseball

John Danks allowed two runs in seven frames for his 11th victory as the White Sox topped the Royals 5-4 at U.S. Cellular Field. Jose Abreu tagged a two-run home run in the win and Josh Phegley hit a pair of solo shots. Javy Guerra earned his first save for the White Sox, who snapped a four-game skid. Danny Duffy took the loss after allowing four runs in two-plus innings of work. Salvador Perez hit a solo shot for the Royals. Kansas City holds the top Wild Card spot. With a win and a Tigers loss in the regular season finale, the two teams will play a tie-breaker game on Monday in Detroit.

White Sox 1st baseman Paul Konerko was honored prior to the game for his years with the team. He plays his final game today in Chicago.

 

Jonathan Lucroy hit an RBI-double in the fifth to lift the Brewers to a 2-1 win over the Cubs from Miller Park.  Carlos Gomez homered in the third for Milwaukee, which snapped a two-game skid.  Wily Peralta struck out 13 over seven innings of one-run ball for the win.  Francisco Rodriguez notched his 44th save.  Anthony Rizzo knocked in the lone RBI for Chicago, which had won three in-a-row.  Tsuyoshi Wada allowed two runs in the start for the loss.
