Chicago Baseball

Jose Quintana  threw seven-and-a-third strong innings to lead the White Sox in a 4-3 win over the Rays at Tropicana Field. Quintana improved to 9-and-10 while allowing three runs, one earned. Avisail Garcia's two-run double in the fifth provided the difference for Chicago, which had lost three of four. Jose Abreu and Alexei Ramirez also knocked in runs while Zach Putnam notched his sixth save. Jeremy Hellickson gave up four runs over four-and-a-third innings to fall to 1-and-4 for Tampa Bay. Logan Forsythe hit a solo homer and drove in three for the Rays, who have dropped two straight since a three-game win streak.

Game #2 of the series is tonight. WRHL'S Pre-Game Show begins at 5:35 on Newstalk 1060.

Matt Kemp and A.J. Ellis both homered in a six-run first inning as the Dodgers blew out the Cubs 14-5 at Wrigley Field.  Ellis homered twice and Yasiel Puig also went deep for Los Angeles, which also scored six times in the sixth inning.  Clayton Kershaw rode the support to his 20th win of the season, striking out nine over five innings of three-run ball.  The reigning NL Cy Young winner is now 20-and-3.  Edwin Jackson gave up five runs while recording just two outs in the first inning to fall to 6-and-15 with the loss.  Anthony Rizzo and Jorge Soler drove in runs for the Cubs.
