Chicago Baseball

Chris Sale outdueled Scott Kazmir as the White Sox edged the Athletics 1-0 at U.S. Cellular Field. Sale struck out nine while allowing just two hits and two walks in eight innings to improve to 12-and-3. Jake Petricka allowed two runners in the ninth before closing it out for his 13th save. Marcus Semien homered for the game's only run in the bottom of the sixth inning as Chicago took three of four in the series. Kazmir went the distance in defeat. He struck out seven while allowing one run on four hits and a walk to fall to 14-and-8. Jed Lowrie had two of Oakland's three hits in the setback.

White Sox open up a series at home tonight against Minnesota.

The Cubs are in Pittsburgh tonight starting a three-game series with the Pirates.  Tsuyoshi Wada toes the rubber for Chicago while the Bucs go with Gerrit Cole.  The Cubs were just swept in a three-game series with the Pirates earlier this month.  Chicago has lost six straight overall.
