Cox out for the season at Iowa

Stillman Valley's Adam Cox won't be playing for the Iowa Hawkeyes this fall as their starting fullback.

Cox was injured in the 3rd pre-season practise and had surgery on his knee. The Junior hopes to receive a medical red-shirt season as he will have 2 years remaining on his college career.

Cox tore his ACL in his left knee.

Adam was blocking a linebacker in practise when a defensive lineman hit the knee.

Adam started at fullback last season for the Hawkeyes. The position is used mostly for blocking as Cox had only 4 carries during the season for 16 yeards.

The 5-11, 230 pound back also had 3 receptions for 51 yards and had 2 kick returns for 32 yards.

Cox was a walk-on in the Iowa Hawkeyes Football program and played his way into receiving a scholarship from the University.

Adam learned of his scholarship on August 4th. He was hurt in practise on August 6th. Rehabilitation on his left knee is expected to take 6 months. Cox is expected to be ready for spring football practise at Iowa in 2015.
