Cubs lose to the Giants, resume suspended game today

Travis Ishikawa  paced the Giants' offense with three RBI en route to an 8-3 win over the Cubs at Wrigley. Hunter Pence tagged a solo shot in the win with Andrew Susac adding a two-run dinger. Jake Peavy improved to 2-and-3 with two-run ball over seven innings. The Giants have won three straight. Edwin Jackson lasted just two-and-two-thirds innings and gave up seven runs in the loss. Luis Valbuena collected three hits and went deep in the loss. Chris Valaika  launched a two-run shot in defeat. The Cubs have lost four of their last six.

The Giants are the first team in 28 years to win a protest.  Tuesday's rain-shortened game between the Giants and Cubs at Wrigley Field was called after a four-hour, 34-minute delay due to unplayable field conditions.  The grounds crew had trouble covering the field with the tarp once the game was halted, resulting in excess water on the infield.  San Francisco claimed that not enough was done to dry the infield in a timely manner.  The contest will resume today.
