The high school football season began Monday for programs in Illinois.
Yesterday was the 1st official day teams can get on the field and practise for the 2014 season. It is 2 days earlier than in past years.
Players are able to wear their helmet today and later in the week shoulder pads. The entire uniform with full pads can be worn on Saturday.
The 1st games of the season will be played on Friday, August 29th and Saturday, August 30th.
Kevin Crandall begins his 21st season as Head Football Coach at Rochelle Township High School. The Hubs are coming off a (6-5) record in 2013 and a 2nd round playoff appearance.
RTHS has around 70 players in their program this season on all 3 levels.
Rochelle opens up the season on Saturday, August 30th when they play Chicago Corliss at Gately Stadium. Rochelle football home and away can be heard this season on Newstalk 1060 and wrhl.net.
The remainder of the Fall sports teams at schools in Illinois can begin practise on Wednesday for their season.
