Yovani Gallardo struck out six in seven innings of one-run ball to help guide the Brewers to a 3-1 win over the Cubs at Wrigley Field. Gallardo improved to 7-and-6 with the win and Francisco Rodriguez closed it out for his league-leading 36th save. Mark Reynolds belted his 20th home run of the season. Khris Davis and Scooter Gennett each chipped in an RBI for Milwaukee, which has won four of five. Starlin Castro went 2-for-4 and Chris Coghlan doubled in a run for Chicago. Jake Arrieta fell to 6-and-4 with the loss for the Cubs, who have lost three of their last four.
