Andy Wilkinson of Rochelle appears to be on his way to his 2nd straight win at the 2nd Annual Fairways Golf Championship in the Hub City as he has a 6 shot lead going into the final 27 holes today.
Wilkinson, who also won the Championship Flight in 2013, opened with a 2 under par 64 on Saturday and then came back and shot a 2 under par 34 on the front 9. His 98 total is 6 shots better than Jon Woeppel who had a 69 and 35 yesterday.
Wilkinson has also won tournaments on the Rochelle golf course in 2009 and 2011.
Tied for 3rd place and 8 shots off the lead are Thomas Brennan and Jared Johnson. David Shaw is in 5th place, 9 shots back.
Bob Johns leads the Men's Senior Championship Flight with a 73. That's 8 shots better than Bill Mattingly of Oregon.
Watsana Thiravong is the only woman playing in the 2nd Annual Fairways Golf Championship. She had a 96 in the Championship Flight.
27 holes will be played in the Men's Championship Flight today. The other Flights will play 18 holes.
