Royals score 2 runs in the 8th and beat the White Sox

Jeremy Guthrie threw seven innings of three-hit ball and gave up one run to guide the Royals past the White Sox 3-1 at Kauffman Stadium. Guthrie took a no-decision, while Wade Davis improved to 3-and-1 and Greg Holland locked up his 13th save. Billy Butler and Danny Valencia drove in a run each for the Royals, who have won three of five. Jose Quintana took the loss after giving up three runs over seven-and-a-third to fall to 2-and-4. Paul Konerko drove in the lone run for Chicago, which snapped their two-game streak with the loss.

The White Sox are getting their ace back in the rotation.  Chris Sale will toe the rubber tonight against the Yankees for his first Major League action in more than a month.  Sale was out with a flexor strain in his elbow.  The lefty was 3-and-0 with a 2.30 earned run average prior to the injury and struck out 11 hitters in four-innings during his lone minor league rehab start.  Tonight's game can be hear on Newstalk 1060

White Sox closer Matt Lindstrom will need surgery on his left ankle.  Manager Robin Ventura stated the righty will be out for an extended period.  Lindstrom hurt his ankle fielding a bunt during Monday's contest against the Royals and was diagnosed with a dislocated ankle tendon.  The closer will have surgery done tomorrow and holds six saves on the season.
