The Cubs are reportedly one of five teams that have made an offer for right-hander Masahiro Tanaka. Japanese news service Nikkan Sports reports that the Yankees, Dodgers, Diamondbacks and White Sox are the others. All offers are said to be over six-years, 100-million-dollars.
The White Sox came to terms on one-year deals with second baseman Gordon Beckham and outfielder Alejandro De Aza on Friday, avoiding arbitration with both. Beckham will earn 4.175-million-dollars in 2014. De Aza agreed to a pact worth 4.25-million-dollars.
