A Mt. Morris man died following a single-vehicle accident just before 7 o'clock Friday morning. The Ogle County Sheriff's Office reports that 28 year old Shiloh Balluff was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ogle County Coroner. Sheriff’s Deputies were called to investigate the report of a single-vehicle accident on Haldane Road in rural Polo, and upon arrival found a 2001 Ford Mustang on the north-side of the road in a field. The investigation revealed that the vehicle was driving westbound on the roadway, before it lost control, drove off the north side and overturned at least once before coming to rest 70 feet north of the roadway. The driver was ejected from the vehicle and was not located in the immediate area. Upon searching the surrounding area, deputies located and followed a set of footprints from the scene and found Balluff approximately 900 feet east of the crash site in a creek. Balluff fell down into the creek and was partially submerged. Balluff was transported to the Ogle County Morgue by Coroner Finch pending an autopsy. Deputies believe that Balluff was the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle. Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Polo Fire and Ambulance Departments. Accident remains under investigation.
