Illinois lawmakers are getting a slow start at the fall session in Springfield. They reportedly delayed two of the state's hot-button issues to concentrate on the pension shortfall instead. Lawmakers put the gay marriage proposal and a bill to hand down stiffer sentences for committing gun crimes on the back burner. But lawmakers say they're working on a compromise deal to close the nearly-100-billion-dollar pension shortfall.
