The Rochelle City Council approved a proposal last night in changing insurance coverage for the employees.
The Blue Cross Blue Shield plan will begin November 1st.
City Manager DavidPlyman also said that the coverage will remain the same for the employees. The city will also see a savings in premiums.
The city will have a ground breaking ceremony tomorrow at 10:30 for the extension of the runway at the Municipal Airport. It will go from 4,226 feet to 5,000 feet.
The council approved the variance for Rochelle Avionics involving their wall signage at the airport hangar. The sign will be for fly-in traffic and not visible from the highway.
City officials also amended the ordinance dealing with copper pipes used in the water department. High-density polyethylene will now be used. Water Superintendent Kathy Cooper said that the savings for a home will range from 450 to 500 dollars by using this material.
