The city council of Dixon took the final step in approving the 40-million-dollar settlement last night that stemmed from the Rita Crundwell scandal. The council accepted the settlement with its former auditors and a bank that failed to notice that Crundwell embezzled millions during her 20-years as city comptroller. The council is still considering options for how to use the windfall.
Crundwell pled guilty in federal court to wire fraud and was sentenced to more than 19 years in prison.
