A Stillman Valley woman escaped serious injuries yesterday morning after the car she was driving struck a tree in an alcohol related crash.
42-year old Shellie Knox was traveling southbound in the 10,000 block of Rothwell Road when she failed to stop at the intersection at Route 72 in rural Stillman Valley. Her vehicle traveled into the south ditch before striking a tree.
Knox was transported by ambulance to a Rockford Hospital with minor injuries. She was trapped for a period of time in her car.
Knox was arrested on the charge of DUI along with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and disobeying a stop sign.
A Freeport man escaped serious injuries this past weekend following an alcohol related motorcycle crash in Ogle County.
The accident took place Saturday evening on Route 72 in rural Mt. Morris. A 2002 Honda Motorcycle riden by 29-year old Thomas Kampmeier left the highway and entered the north ditch. The vehicle then over turned and Kampmeier was ejected.
He was flown from the scene by life line helicopter to a Rockford hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Kampmeier was arrested on the charge of DUI. Other charges include failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. driving on the shoulder of the roadway, and having no insurance.
According to Ogle County Sheriff's police, they arrested a Rockford man this past weekend after a single vehicle alcohol related accident.
The crash took place in the 7,000 block of North Route 2. 63-year old Charles McCoy of Rockford was arrested on the charge of DUI, improper lane usage, along with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
McCoy refused medical treatment at the scene. He will appear in court on the charges at a later date.
