Rochelle Elementary board meeting

The approval of a 5-year tax abatement for a local business along with the future of the Hub Program topped the discussion last night by the Rochelle Elementary board.

The tax abatement is for Sawicki Motor Company along Illinois 251 in Rochelle dealing with their renovation project.

There was some preliminary discussion of the tax levy for the district. The "EAV" has increased by just under 1 percent over the last 3 years. A hearing and a final number will be approved during the December board meeting.

Sue Armstrong, Gene Chaplin, and Leroy Shoemaker were appointed to 2 year terms on the David Crawford Foundation Board. The group held their annual meeting last night.

The board also approved a 1-year contract for Jodee Craven as Project Manager of the Hub Project.

The board met in executive session to talk about personnel, pending litigation, along with the sale or lease of property owned by the district. No action was taken.

A closing date has yet to be set for the former Lincoln School on South Main Street.
