A Chana man is back on the streets today following an alcohol related car vs school bus crash which took place earlier this month in rural Rochelle.
66-year old Neel Hanke has been charged with the Class 2 felony offense of aggravated DUI.
The accident took place at the intersection of Hemstock and Center Roads on September 19th.
Illinois State Police report that the sports utility vehicle driven by Hanke was west bound on Hemstock Road and failed to stop. The Rochelle school bus was traveling north bound on Center Road.
There were a total of 9 students along with the driver on the bus. 2 of the teens received treatment for minor injuries at Rochelle Community Hospital.
Hanke was treated at hospitals in Rochelle and Rockford for his injuries.
Hanke appeared in Ogle County court yesterday for an arraignment. He is scheduled for a motion hearing next Wednesday. He also posted 10% of the $100,000 bond yesterday and was released from jail.
Ogle County State's Attorney Mike Rock said that Hanke does have 2 prior DUI convictions on his record.
