Students at Rochelle Township High School learned a valuable leasson Thursday involving life. Do not drink and drive and also don't get behind the wheel of a car and text to your friends.
Rochelle Community Hospital along with emergency personnel from Rochlle, Ogle County, Rockford and the State Police put on an exercise involving a single vehicle crash. The accident included injuries and a fatality.
RTHS Superintendent Jamie Craven stressed that the students learned from the exercise.
1 of the guest speakers yesterday was Brenda Toot of Elizabeth whose daughter was killed in an accident while she was texting to a friend.
Craven also stressed that yesterday's message is also for adults in the area who text while they drive.
The exercise lasted just over an hour as students could talk with emergency personnel following the program.
