An audit report on the finances for the past fiscal year, the purchase of a video recording system for the police department and the extension of the runway at the airport topped the discussion last night by city officials in Rochelle.
Rochelle Finance Manager Chris Frye said that the revenue for the General Fund has remained consistent for the past 5 years.
The Rochelle Police department will be getting a new video system for their squad cars at a cost of just over $48,000. Chief Eric Higby said that the new system will benefit his officers when they go into court following arrests.
The city has hired Michelle Pease as their new Director of Community Development. She had worked at Kishwaukee Community College for the past 17 years.
The extension of the runway at the airport goes from 4,226 feet to 5,000 feet. The agreement approved last night was with Hanson Professional Services at a cost of just over $175,000 for the project. Airport Manager Mark Delhotal said that construction on the project will begin this fall and be completed in 2014.
The taxiway project at the airport is also scheduled to begin next spring.
