NIU in DeKalb has named Tom Phillips as their new Police Chief.
Phillips had worked at the University of Illinois in Chicago since 1996. His current position was Deputy Police Chief.
Phillips replaced Acting Chief Darren Mitchell. He was named to that position when Donald Grady was fired in February for alleged misconduct. This involved allegedly withholding evidence in a rape case against 1 of his former officers.
Phillips will start his new job at NIU on September 16th with an annual salary of $160,000.
