High school insurance coverage for athetes on the rise

High school’s across the state will have to up the ante when it comes to protecting student athletes. A new law requires school’s to cover injured athletes with up to three-million-dollars-worth of insurance benefits or, for five years, whichever comes first. The extra insurance is expected to cost less than five-bucks per athlete. Schools that already require athletes to have private insurance are exempt from the law.
