School districts in Illinois may have an easier time merging under a new law. The measure is designed to reduce barriers for school districts that want to voluntarily reorganize. Districts with fewer than 750 students could be dissolved through a school board resolution or a petition signed by a majority of the district's registered voters. Governor Pat Quinn signed the legislation on Friday.
