The Rochelle Area Chamber of Commerce & Business Development, City of Rochelle, and Rochelle Municipal Airport congratulated the Flight Deck Bar & Grill at the Chicagoland Skydiving Center for receiving the 2013 “Five Prop – on-Airport Restaurant of the Year” from the Illinois Department of Transportation, State Division of Aeronautics.
Dr. Susan Shea, Director of the Illinois Division of Aeronautics, traveled to Rochelle from Springfield, to visit the new eatery and made a formal presentation to Flight Deck President & CEO Doug Smith. Also on-hand was Mike Wood, Chief Operations Officer; Darian Shelton, Executive Chef; and Becky Johns, Director of Marketing and Communications. In attendance were officials from the City of Rochelle and Chamber.
According to Doug Smith, the Flight Deck was created with a vision to establish Rochelle as an entertainment destination and to create a unique dining experience alongside a world-class skydiving facility. Rochelle Municipal Airport Manager Mark Delhotal is proud to have the Flight Deck Bar & Grill located at the city airport.
The Flight Deck Bar & Grill opened on October 1, 2012. As part of the Chicagoland Skydiving Center’s 20,000 sq. ft. facility, the restaurant offers a unique dining experience for one of the state’s leading entertainment venues
