President Obama wants to shore up the middle-class in his last years in office. He says creating jobs, plus providing access to education, home ownership, and a secure retirement are the cornerstones of building a strong middle class. He’s calling on Republicans in Congress to take a stand, especially those who agree with him behind closed doors, but are afraid to vote with him for fear of political backlash. President Obama says that’s the wrong attitude and he urges all members of Congress to focus on the American people. He says what Congress won’t do, he’ll do by executive order.
