The solar panel project is in full operations in the Village of Hillcrest.
Last March, The board committed $40,000 with Heavenly Winds of Compton. The solar panels are located behind the village hall building in Hillcrest. The lines are underground to the water pump house.
The village is currently paying between 800 to 11 hundred dollars a month for their electric bill. The savings could range between 400 to 525 dollars each month.
The village received an Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation grant of $60,000 for the solar panel project.
Village Board President Kim Whalen said that the panels began working last week.
Residents in Hillcrest can following the system on the village's website.
