The water boil order for a section of Rochelle will continue to at least Friday.
The water boil order was issued Tuesday for RMU customers in the 400 and 500 blocks of North 3rd Street and the 200 and 300 blocks of 6th Avenue. The order also included homes in the 200, 300, and 400 blocks of 5th Avenue.
The problem was due to the replacement of a water valve at North 3rd Street and 6th Avenue.
The 1st water sample came back positive with a bacteria. The city will now have to wait at least 2 days before the boil order can be lifted.
Residents in this area should boil their water for at least 5 minutes for drinking or cooking.
RMU customers will be notified along with WRHL Radio when the water boil order has been lifted.
