Around 20 residents in Rochelle attended a "Neighborhood Watch" meeting last night as they had concerns about a number of topics.
The discussion included drug sales, gangs, along with burglaries and police patroling in the community.
Rochelle Police Chief Eric Higby said that they covered a number of issues last night. He stressed that he wants local residents to call the department if they have any problems or questions in their neighborhood. Many times, an arrest results from the call.
The Rochelle Police Department handled more than 15,500 calls last year. Each officer should have at least 6 contacts per shift. The officers work 12 hours shifts.
The Rochelle Police Department currently have 21 full-time officers.
