Ogle County officials and the FAA investigate plane crash this past weekend

Ogle County Sheriff's police along with the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating a plane crash this past weekend. The pilot did not suffer any injuries.

The incident took place Saturday morning about 3 miles northweast of the Village of Shannon in Ogle County. Reports indicate that a single engine airplane used for agricultural applications was attempting to take off when it encountered a cross wind.

The plane crashed in a cornfield about a quarter of a mile after take-off.

The pilot, 56-year old James Timo of Crestview, Florida, suffered no injuries from the incident.

This is the 2nd crash in the past week in the area involving a plane used for spraying crops. A 1982 Air Tractor struck a cellular radio tower near Steward last Friday. The pilot suffered non-life threatening injuries.
