Area residents enjoyed the July 4th holiday yesterday with summer temperatures and numerous cookouts.
In Rochelle, local residents lined the streets for the annual parade. The Rochelle Municipal Band also had a concert at Atwood Park in the evening.
Representatives from the Flagg-Rochelle Community Park District were also at the park with their imagination playground that included a disc golf basket along with games.
The fireworks show capped off the day. The company the city bought the fireworks from also fired off the explosive devices for the show.
Firework shows also took place last night in Mt. Morris, Byron, Rockford, Winnebago, Loves Park, and Cherry Valley.
There were no reports locally of any serious injuries from fireworks that were set off.
