A Byron teen suffered injuries yesterday morning following a train vs car crash in Ogle County.
The collision took place in the 8,000 block of North Mill Road in rural Byron a short time after 10:30.
Reports indicate that 19-year old Chase Stoddard, formerly of Rochelle, was south bound on Mill Road and approaching the railroad crossing the same time as an east bound train on the Canadian Pacific Railroad. The train struck the passenger side of the vehicle as it was pushed 80 feet to the east off the crossing.
Ogle County Sheriff's police say that the crossing does not have gates, but there are flashing lights and audible sounds for warning when a train is coming.
Stoddard was transported by ambulance to a Rockford hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He was ticketed for disregarding a warning device for a train.
