The beginning of the summer boating season may see a wave of harsher penalties for boat operators found to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The General Assembly approved a plan in the spring that would allow the state to suspend or revoke a person's driver's licence if they're involved in a serious boating accident and found to be impaired. A spokesman for governor Pat Quinn says the administration supports the measure.
