Future of NI Big 12 Confernece is 10 schools

The Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference will become a 10-school league following the 2013-14 sports season along with some changes in the divisions.

Dixon and Streator High Schools plan to leave the conference after the next school year. Rochelle Township High School will also move over to the West Division to even the sides at 5 schools.

During this week's program "Let The People Know", RTHS Athletic Director Kevin Crandall said that no area schools are interested in leaving their current conference for the NI Big 12.

Many schools districts in the area have also gone to field turf for their football facility. Crandall does not see this happening in the near future at RTHS. He said that the football stadium is used for only that sport while soccer has their own facility.

"Let The People Know" is heard on Wednesday afternoons at 12:30 on Newstalk 1060 and re-broadcast Saturday mornings at 6 on Newstalk 1060 and Sunday mornings at 6 on "The Coyote", 102.3FM.

Next week's guest will be Rochelle Mayor Chet Olson.
