Severe thunderstorm storms yesterday afternoon and evening caused some problems for area residents due to the high winds and heavy rainfall.
In Rochelle and Ogle County, the emergency sirens were set off a short time before 4 due to the weather. The National Weather Service saw some rotations in the clouds on radar, but there have been no reports of any tornadoes that touched down in the area.
There were reports of standing water on roadways along with tree limbs and wires down.
In DeKalb County, there were unconfirmed reports of a funnel cloud in the southern portion of the county. The storm did produce high winds and some outbuildings and grain bins were damaged.
The damage was caused by straight side wind bursts.
DeKalb County also had some hail from the storm.
Several funnel clouds were seen in the Rockford area yesterday, but none touched down.
