Governor Pat Quinn says the state doesn't want anyone using social media to harrass or threaten others. With that in mind, the governor signed into law a bill that makes those who use social networks such as Facebook or Twitter to form flash mobs for the sole purpose of committing violent acts subject to stiffer criminal penalties. The law takes effect immediately, gives judges the ability to double the sentences of those found to have guilty of using social media to commit crimes.
